AUDIBLE LIGHT is a large-scale photoelectronic sound sculpture creating sound directly from light.

Big disks with different hole patterns are turning gracefully over light-sensitive electronic circuits to produce continuously flowing soundscapes and illuminate the respective exhibition space with vivid light patterns. The calm and delicate interplay between sound and light resembles a living organism and creates a place of contemplation and tranquility.

This art project is inspired by the Variophone instrument, an analog optical synthesizer developed by Russian inventor Evgeny Sholpo in the 1930's in Leningrad.
